I would say that Alexandrite is stronger and that it was a location advantage. Malachite's body doesn't look very maneuverable. Kind of like how a crocodile can be quite fast on land but has trouble making turns. Her legs and wings don't seem to be fit for terrestrial combat, whereas Alexandrite has a more adaptable and humanoid body.
